It's arguably the world's most iconic luxury sports and racing car.

And now for the first time in more than four decades, Ferrari is to become a fully independent company.
經歷了40多年的發展,法拉利終於即將成為一家完全獨立的公司。

Fiat Chrysler which currently owns 90% of Ferrari is giving up its stake.
目前佔有法拉利股份90%的飛雅特克萊斯勒公司將放棄它的股份。

Our business reporter told me why.

Ferrari is worth, potentially worth a lot of money.

It's a fantastic symbol of sports car heritage, if you like.

But Fiat needs money at the moment.

It has just completed the merger with the American car maker Chrysler.

There's a lot of restructuring to be done, a lot of expansion to be done.

So Fiat is investing 60 billion dollars in all of this.

The reason for separating Ferrari out into an independent company is because if they do that,

But the remainder of the shares that Fiat currently owns will be distributed among its own share holders.

And that means Italian interests will still continue to hold the bulk of what is Ferrari today.

And that means that political problems about selling off the family silver simply don't apply.

And that is because people think that the value realized by selling Ferrari will be substantial. We can only guess.
